A Balanced Immune System.

Health Screening: A pre/post COVID defense program

Your immune system works to recognize and identify an infection or injury in your body. This causes an immune response, with the goal of restoring normal function.

Having a balanced immune system can help fight common illnesses.

COVID-19 is a novel pathogen, meaning that those have contracted it have no existing antibodies to defend against the virus. Because we have not encountered the virus before, our immune system is not primed and ready to fight it.

Maintaining a balanced immune system in itself, will not prevent you from contracting COVID-19, it can however, help you through the period your body is dealing with the virus and in the post recovery period.

Reducing your risk of exposure to COVID-19

The recommended approaches of ; social distancing, wearing a mask and regular hand washing are
important steps to incorporate into your new daily routines.
In addition, you can continue to naturally boost your immune system through consistent practice
of these health and hygiene regimes;

Research continues on understanding our immune system, it is believed that in addition to the
suggested annual vaccines, the appropriate levels of daily nutritional meals and hydration, quality
sleep, exercise, caring for our emotional and psychological well-being, and other lifestyle
choices can be of benefit to your immune system.

Long - COVID, what do we know?

Approximately 10% of COVID patients experience what is now being called Long-COVID,
where people experience a variety of symptoms; cough, fatigue, feel lethargic, inability to exercise,
decreased body oxygen levels, loss of appetite, brain fog, forgetfulness, tight chest, erratic breathing,
shortness of breath, feverish, persistent headache, continued loss of smell & taste, swollen glands,
waves of anxiety, depression and skin rashes.

As research continues, we are learning more about the impact of COVID on our bodies, one relevant disorder of the autonomic nervous system called POTS – postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is believed to be a cause of dramatically elevated heart rates from small movements, dizziness and extreme fatigue.

POTS existed before COVID, and there is encouragement, as there is treatment for this in terms of; gradual return to physical activity, preventing blood pooling through compression stockings or abdominal compression, increased fluid and salt intake and medications to regulate for low blood pressure, heart rate and blood volume.
